Stay at home and Cook with me- Slow cooker Beef Goulash
let’s start the stay at home and cook with me series off right with slow cooker beef goulash.
Due to recent events getting hold of ingredients isn’t as easy as it used to be.
So I am digging through my old footage to scrape together recipes for you guys, who are in isolation or are caring for those in isolation.
Goulash is a smoked paprika Hungarian stew, and by now, we all know I love comfort food. Those meals that fill you up and make you feel happy inside.
And given the recent events, I think it is much needed!
Beef Goulash History
Originally used by Hungarian shepherds who spent months tending to their livestock, the meat was cured and dried in the sun.
transported in a sheep stomach bag and water would be added, to make a stew for their tea.
Now obviously times have changed.
But you know what, if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
Goulash is now a national dish of Hungary and for good reason! It is bloody delicious!
Smoked paprika, tender beef. Who could ask for more!
I enjoy making this in the slow cooker.
allowing it to reduce naturally with the lid off, it becomes immensely flavourful and rich!
Freezing and Reheating Beef Goulash
This is freezer friendly which makes it perfect if you are caring for those at a distance during the Covid-19 outbreak.
I have been vacuum packing portions of bulk recipes to drop off to some of the most vulnerable. And the key workers who barely have time to sleep let alone cook.
Sometimes having a home-cooked meal can do a massive amount for mental health, not too mention the importance of having a healthy meal in the first place.
Celebrating the stay at home heroes
I am also making a point of celebrating our smallest heroes who have been helping out at home. Whether it be home baking or arts and crafts, I will be dedicating a portion of all my future videos too, the millions of children who have been helping us parents and carers at home.
My children love when they hear their names in my videos, so why not take the chance to give other children that excitement during this time.
DM or tag me in your little one’s creations along with their first name, age and city and I will give them a mention in my videos
If you find yourself in self-isolation check out my other post.
